Hello, my name is Maureen Gorsuch, and I have been helping people feel better since 1990.   I offer several styles of massage but many people call me when they are recovering from an injury or when they are in pain. I integrate "Practical Kinesiology," with massage therapy. In a typical session we'll start by talking about any injuries or complaints that you might have. I ask you what hurts, what motions increase or decrease pain, and then we'll do some muscle testing to assess how well the muscles are functioning. We are looking for which muscles may NOT be working as well as they should be, or which ones may be over-working. I then apply therapy to that muscle or related points, to help restore proper function. So instead of just "releasing or relaxing'" muscles, I "ask" what the muscles need and then apply a specific massage, acupressure, or other technique to bring about a functional change.   The results are usually quite noticeable and immediate improvement is frequently experienced.

If you are experiencing discomfort such as neck or jaw pain or stiffness, sports injuries, whiplash, tennis elbow, carpal tunnel syndrome, lower back pain, and plantar fasciitis, I may be able to help you.  I am comfortable working with all types of pain and injuries, and we can generally determine if the work I do is what you need in our first session.  I love this work and the expediency of the results !  I have also been a recipient of it, and it was life changing !

In 1983 I was involved in a motorcycle accident in which many of my facial bones and jaw were shattered. I had several years of successful reconstructive surgery and dental work, but still dealt with severe chronic neck pain. I visited throngs of healing practitioners and had weekly massage in massage school, which helped relieve the pain, but the pain always returned.

Immediately upon completing my massage therapy training at the Hawaiian Islands School, I was introduced to Dr Karl Hynes.  He was a Diplomate in Applied Kinesiology and became my mentor for 3 1/2 years.  While we were working together, we also worked on one another. Using several Applied Kinesiology techniques, he restored healthy function to the muscles in the front of my neck, which, much to my surprise, had been "under functioning" for years. After that, the muscles in the back of my neck could finally relax... My neck pain, after seven years was completely gone.  That experience is one of the reasons I am still so passionate about this work.

Sometimes people just need a deeply relaxing, quiet massage. And that is also something that I love to do. I enjoy the meditative quality and healing that can happen in that alpha state.  I work with all kinds of people from professional athletes to non athletes and people of all ages. I love to help people improve the quality of their lives and become pain-free. I am also certified in "Touch for Health," and am available to teach classes or share a little inspiration at your event.

If this work interests you, feel free to call me at (816)916-6405.  Thanks for visiting. Sincerely, Maureen Gorsuch
